INTERIOR DESIGN: How to Make Your Home Look Expensive On A Budget

hey guys welcome back to live your styleI'm Sarah and today we're talking abouthow to make your home look expensivewithout cashing in your life savings nowI know not everyone's budgets the samebut don't worry you no matter how big orhow small your budget may be there willstill be something for everyone in thisvideo okay are you ready to get started[Music]number one keep it clean no matter howmuch money you've spent on your home ifthere's clutter it's gonna feel gross ifyou can commit to making your bedpicking things up off the floor andclearing your surfaces you will start tofeel better about your space and feelway more inspired to make it beautiful[Music]and the best part the only thingcleaning costs you is your time maybe afew Clorox wipes number two stop tosmell the flowers you guys you will notbelieve how much fresh flowers can addto your space not only do they give yourhouse a splash of color and freshnessbut the smell is just so inviting andwelcoming and it's an added easy levelof class and if you're looking to save afew dollarsskip the prearranged two bouquets andactually just buy a couple bundles ofroses or hydrangeas and DIY a littlebouquet yourselfnumber three hang some curtains now Iknow I say this in nearly every singlevideo but that's just because it worksthere's something about curtains youguys that just drips luxury it adds somuch to space makes it feel bigger morehomey more cozy and I don't know it justlike makes a random box like feel like aluxury room I cannot explain it just tryit and remember when you go to hang thatmake sure your rods are close to theceiling not right by the window learnthat from your mom now don't just buythem and throw them up on the windowsmake sure you wash them dry them andiron them you guys this makes all thedifference in the world I'm not kiddingyou could buy $10 IKEA curtains which iswhat I have in my house and if you ironthem they look like wet sound curtainsand one more tip for a fuller moresubstantial look double up on thecurtain makes a big differencenumber four hang your TV now this oneshocks me how many people don't do thisthere's nothing luxurious about aplastic TV stand hang that baby I knowit can seem a little intimidating atfirst but let me tell you it is so worthitnow most TVs come with a wall mount butif yours doesn't you can find one onAmazon for under 100 bucks and it willchange the game in your living room yourhusband may be upset with you but tellthem it's worth it like I did to mine wehave plaster walls it was much moredifficultjust drywall but anyway I digress numberfive invest your budget and things thatyou sit on okay real talk you guys we'veall been there before when you'refurnishing a new home and trying to keepyour budget low there is a hugetemptation to kind of go cheap when itcomes to investing in a sofa becauseit's a very large price item you gethome you most likely build it yourselfand then every time you and your guestssit down you regret it I've been thereyou've probably been there well thosedays are over okay so why am I sayingall this about a sofa well because wejust got a new sofa and forever we'vehad an inexpensive sofa that was notvery comfortable if you're watching thisvideo right now and you're planning outyour budget consider investing a largepercentage of your budget into your sofathere are plenty other things that youcan compromise and save money on butwhen it comes to the one thing that youspend the majority of your time sittingon choose wisely if you guys want toknow where to start and looking forgreat sofas I recommend going to wherewe went which was the sofa companythey're super friendly they help youdesign a custom sofa and I know the wordcustom is like oh my gosh it's gonna beso expensive no it's crazy be the sixthfloor husband like I do and you want asofa that's two inches deeper thannormal they can do that and sincethey're custom sofas start under athousand dollars they will work with anybudget number six decorate with candlesand bottled matchsticksI think these cute little bottledmatchsticks are some of my favorite newdecor finds I don't know if they've beenout forever but I've noticed thempopping up at a lot of different littleboutiques around recently now if youdon't want to spend the money on buyingthem I have a trick for you get an emptyspice bottle take the label off go buysome matches at the grocery store andfill the spice bottle with those matchesdon't forget to cut a little piece ofthe striker off and maybe tape itunderneath the bottle but then you'regood and it's the same exact thing it'ssuper cute they are such a simple way toadd a little elegant touch to your homenumber seven save money on surfaces likemarble or distressed wood and DIY thelook for less I love the look of marblecountertops or marble desks but I didn'twant to spend the money on it so I wasable to use this really cool marblecontact paper and if you guys have seenthis DIY and my channel I covered thetop of my desk in marble contact paperitactually looks real pretty Nicky prettycheap another look that's really popularright now is distressed wood instead ofbuying the merchandise versions of thelook head over to Home Depot buyyourself some regular ol wood anddistress it and stain it yourself likewe did in our kitchen number eight useused accessories now I love going toSalvation Army and goodwill and some ofthose places because accessories are theplace to definitely try to save on yourbudget if you go to a West Elm or you goto a target even though the items arenot that expensive it all adds up I'mtelling you one thing I actuallyremember from my childhood is going withmy mom to garage sales she would alwaysbuy vases or different glass items thatmaybe had a chip on a corner or thingslike that and she would buy them for twodollars and put them on a shelf and justturn the bottle so the chip was hiddenhello genius you can reuse otherpeople's trash for your treasure and itlooks amazingin fact this space is from SalvationArmy a lot of my vases are fromdifferent Goodwill's and things likethat and also books the next time you'reat a thrift store or a goodwill orsomething like that take a look at theirbooks and look at the color of thebinding you can take the sleeve off anduse those books to decorate in yourbookshelves looks amazing and adds a lotof class and it's only a dollar now ifyou guys are in the LA area I haveamazing news the first 10 people thatclick the link below are gonna get $100off coupon to take into the sofa companyand get $100 off your custom sofa
